Online Umpiring Course with Netball Scotland, 9th September 2021

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

We are thrilled to announce that Netball Scotland will be running an online umpiring course with Lynx for the netball community in Sweden! We don't yet have the knowledge and resources to run an umpiring course in person locally, and this is the first virtual course to run in the country making umpiring qualifications accessible to all.

Netball Scotland will be leading the BBN (Bounce Back to Netball) umpiring course, which is suitable for beginner umpires (even if you are an experienced player!). This course is designed to give those who have little to no experience or confidence umpiring, the skills and knowledge to becoming a knowledgeable, confident and effective umpire. You will learn the essential rules of netball, techniques and skills required to make sure Netball is a safe and enjoyable environment for players and umpires to be in.

Online session: Thursday 9th September, 7-9pm

E-modules: to be completed between 25th August - 8th September

Registration closes on 13th August (or before if spaces fill up)

We encourage as many people as possible to take this course, especially those who will be playing in the Viking Cup. We all know how frustrating it can be not having an umpire at all as well as an umpire with no knowledge. All teams are required to provide umpires each week to support each other and the league, and we hope to see players from every team on the course starting on the umpiring pathway, ensuring the Viking Cup is a fun and safe league to play in.

Are you:

  1. 13 years of age or older?

  2. wanting to get to know the rules of netball in more depth - you'd be surprised how much you learn!

  3. not playing the sport any longer and wanting to stay involved in netball?

  4. playing in the Viking Cup League and expected to umpire at some point over the season?

  5. wanting to gain some knowledge about umpiring and confidence blowing a whistle?

  6. wanting to gain an umpiring qualification?

  7. a first time umpire?

  8. resident in Sweden?

If you have said yes to any of the above, this course is for you!

The course costs 350 SEK and you need to register by 13th August. There is a maximum number of 20 people on the course, and we will close registration as soon as numbers fill up.

We will be following this course for the "C" Award at the beginning of 2022.
